The Soweto Gospel Choir was formed in Soweto, South Africa to celebrate the unique and inspirational power of African Gospel music. With a blend of Gospel, elements of Reggae, Negro spirituals and American popular music, this group has a unique sound. The 43-member choir, under the direction of Beverly Bryer, draws on the best talent from the many churches in and around Soweto. The choir is dedicated to sharing the joy of faith through music with audiences around the world. The group performed for South Africa President, Nelson Mandela, and has toured internationally. Their albums, Blessed and African Spirit, won the Grammy Music Award for Best Traditional World Music Album in 2007 and 2008 respectively. So, join us for an evening of award winning and inspirational music.
