Arts and Education Council News
Together, we'll keep art happening!
19 March, 2020
The uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic has created an economic crisis for our local arts organizations. With performances and fundraising events cancelled, revenue needed to pay salaries and expenses has evaporated.
In the weeks and months to come the Arts and Education Council will continue to do what we’ve done since 1963 – support these arts organizations with funding so that they can continue to do what they do best - make our region more vibrant. We’re experienced, reliable and resilient. We’ve been here and we’ll continue to be here for our community – thanks to your support.
For arts organizations, it’s counterintuitive for us to separate; because the arts exist to bring people together for socialization, conversation, debate and joy. We know that today’s separation is only temporary. When we emerge from this difficult time – it will be the arts that bring us together again.
Your support for the Arts and Education Council ensures that the arts remain thriving, open and welcoming to us and the community when we get past this pandemic. Your gift to the Arts and Education Council today will ensure the arts are there for you, your family, friends and colleagues. More importantly, your gift allows us to help them in their critical time of need.
Please consider making a gift or renewing your support. No gift is too small. We also know that it might be a long time before we are able to gather and experience art together so we’re adding six months to ARTS Card benefits so that you have 18 months to enjoy all of the art that will blossom when we emerge from our social distancing and quarantines.
Together, we keep art happening.
You can make your gift safely and securely online.
