Art Education Fund | Arts and Education Council of St. Louis

Art Education Fund

The Art Education Fund, generously underwritten by Wells Fargo Advisors, provides tuition scholarships and transportation subsidies to talented high school students to further their artistic training.

The scholarship fund is intended to remove financial barriers that may prevent these talented students, residing in underserved or low-income areas, from expanding their creative training outside the traditional classroom setting. The Fund partners with Arts and Education Council grantee organizations that offer existing arts education classes and training in visual arts, craft, music, theater performance and dance disciplines to provide art instruction within their established programs.

The following five school districts were initially selected for the Art Education Fund program. High school students who attend these school districts, including charter schools, in these districts are eligible for the program.

  • St. Louis Public Schools
  • Normandy Collaborative
  • Ferguson-Florissant School District
  • Riverview Gardens School District
  • Jennings School District

To match the stated goals of Wells Fargo Advisors, these school districts were selected using statistics from Missouri's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and low-or moderate-income earning less than 80% of the HUD estimated median family income. Specifically, school districts that reported high student eligibility for free or reduced lunch were identified. Additionally, the selected school districts must have existing arts programming within their curriculum and a Fine Arts Coordinator or similar professional in a leadership role at the district level. This allows the Arts and Education Council to coordinate the program through one office within each school district.
