Centene Charitable Foundation

The Centene Charitable Foundation, founded in 2004, is the philanthropic division of Centene Corporation, a multi-national healthcare corporation specializing in providing coverage to underserved communities and individuals. Based in St. Louis, Centene has been a proud supporter of our city’s arts and educational opportunities for more than 15 years.

The Centene Charitable Foundation is an Annual Gift Partner of the Arts and Education Council, and regularly supports sponsorships, special programs, art funds, and other initiatives. In 2003, Centene worked with the Arts and Education Council to establish the Centene Center for the Arts, a shared rehearsal, event, and exhibition space in a historic building downtown. The Centene Center for the Arts opened to great success in 2006 and continues to be a cultural hub in St. Louis today.

Centene’s chairman, president, and CEO, Michael Neidorff, and his wife, Noémi, have a passion for bringing the arts to St. Louis. Together, they served on the St. Louis Symphony board of trustees, where Mr. Neidorff is life trustee and Noémi is a vice chair of the board. They were honored for their Excellence in Philanthropy at the 2019 St. Louis Arts Awards.

In 2017, Mr. Neidorff, celebrated the grand opening of the Catalyst Innovation Lab at the Centene Center for the Arts, a space to gather, learn, and exchange creative ideas. Through corporate funding and workplace giving campaigns, the Centene Charitable Foundation was able to help the Arts and Education Council raise more than $1.3 million to establish the Innovation Lab for collaborative and inspirational work.

Centene is actively involved in providing for the communities where its employees live and work. Through investments in local nonprofits, community art programs, and other partnerships, Centene hopes to address the social determinants of health that directly influence its members’ happiness and well-being.

Transforming the health of the community is at the heart of Centene’s philanthropic giving. We are pleased to partner with the Centene Charitable Foundation to keep art happening in the St. Louis community and provide an outlet for all people to come together to create, learn, and grow.
